It is an interesting place that we live in. We are apart of society and yet we are bound together with it. How fascinating is it that we deprive ourselves of information and innovation. We seemingly try to live in a small world and deny anything else that falls outside of that boundary. And this societal trend will never change course for decades to come. We may not hang people like Orwell predicted, but we may decimate their figure publicly. The new will never come, but the old will never leave.
1984 ends with the Ministry of Love murdering Wilson's character, but letting him live physically. And that is what is so similar in today's society: that the parts that make people unique are frowned upon. We are all lifeless shells bound to society's bidding.
